So bad day for Team India, they lost the plot during the second half of their innings. Australia pegged them back with wickets and Irfan Pathan played a lot of balls for not many runs at the top. There was some rain during the break which dampened the outfield and the Indian spinners struggled thereafter gripping the wet ball.
Shane Watson and David Warner absolutely murdered the Indian bowling and made short work of the target of 141. Terrible defeat for India and now they are in a must win situation against Pakistan in their next Super Eights game.
Alright here is the presentation ceremony:
There is no doubt on who is going to be the Man of the Match. It is the bloke who smashed a 42-ball 72 but before that had also taken three wickets with the ball. Here is the man Shane Watson who says: "The last couple of games have been good. Batting is a little more satisfying. More so if it comes against a good opposition. It did rain and broke a little bit of rhythm. We had to bowl the last couple of overs with a bit of wet outfield as well."
George Bailey, the winning Aussie Captain says: "Fantastic performance from Warner and Watson. Our bowlers set it up for us. Patty was fantastic. There are not two better hitters than Watson and Warner. I'm still trying to work out the rankings a bit. It was a great game."
MS Dhoni, the losing Skipper says: "We need to analyse what really happened. I think the rain really took the game away from us. We got a good start but we lost a couple of wickets in the middle overs and we ended up probably 20 runs short. The rain came in at the right time. The wet ball is not easy to grip. That really cost us the game. I'm not taking credit from the Australians. They batted well. There was not a single spinner who said, the ball did not slip away from my hands. We should have got a little more runs. 140 was a bit less. Looking at the way they batted, may be 180 was less too. It is important to see the mistakes we made as a team. We'll try to get out of our system."
